Dance Education, Performance, and Outreach since 1960
The Georgia Ballet, Inc., a non-profit organization, was founded in 1960 by Iris Hensley. The organization’s Artistic Director, Gina Hyatt-Mazon, and Executive Director, Michele Ziemann-DeVos, have assumed the founder’s vision of offering a professional ballet company, a school of the highest caliber for the metropolitan Atlanta area, and an outstanding Arts in Education outreach program.
The Georgia Ballet has taken the art of professional dance across the state, as well as the nation, with appearances throughout the Southeast, and abroad. The Georgia Ballet’s performing artists make up what is Georgia’s largest company of professional dancers. This core group of twenty-four performers from around the nation have a diverse and versatile background in a range of classical to contemporary styles of dance.
The Georgia Ballet is committed to Arts in Education, a series of programs designed to make dance accessible and entertaining for students of all ages. All programs meet Georgia Quality Core Curriculum Standards, allowing educators the opportunity to share the Arts, specifically dance education with their students.
The Georgia Ballet School is dedicated to providing outstanding instruction in ballet and related dance styles. The school faculty, led by internationally renowned Hamburg Ballet principal artists, Gina Hyatt-Mazon and Janusz Mazon, is a small group of dedicated and enthusiastic dance education professionals. The curriculum is comprised of thirteen graded training levels, each with a written syllabus.
